Her father was an Argentine with Scottish and English ancestry. She has a Spanish and mother who is English speaks was her mother. Taylor-Joy has four siblings from her father's previous marriage. Family was in Buenos Aires up until Taylor-Joy reached the age of six, then moved to Victoria district in London. Taylor Joy admitted that the transition from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was tough as she was unable to learn English in hopes of going home to Argentina. Her school had to change between Northlands to Hill House. Later she attended Queen's Gate School, where she learned dance and participated in shows. After 16 she decided to leave school to focus on acting full time. Taylor-Joy had always wanted to be an actor. As a teenager, Sarah Doukas Founder of Storm Management gave her the opportunity to be a model.
